Survey Overview

We are very excited to invite you and your company to participate in the 2020 Salary Increase and Turnover Study from Aon, an in-depth exploration of global pay increase activity and turnover trends. With the new year comes some changes for our Salary Increase Survey, as we transition to a global bi-annual data collection and publication timeframe, allowing us to provide you the freshest trends and merit insights on the market. The first publication of this year's survey will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Salary increase budgets by type (overall, general and merit)
  • Mandatory increases granted in global markets, across 135 countries
  • Salary structure and promotional increases
  • Variable pay prevalence and awards

All participants who provide a complete and accurate submission will receive a complimentary copy of the results. All data will be kept strictly confidential by Aon, and no individual company data will be shared with any survey participant.

Please note: To be eligible to receive a complimentary Global Salary Increase Survey Report, you will need to submit data for 4+ countries. Otherwise, you will only be eligible to receive country-specific reports based on which country/countries you submitted data for. For example, if you submit data for Germany only, you will receive a complimentary Germany report only.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What changes are there in this year's survey?
There are two big changes to the survey this year. The first change is the Salary Increase Survey is now a bi-annual survey and will have two publications throughout the calendar year. The second big change is that this survey is now combined with the data on the Radford Trends Survey, which allows us to extend our participant reach to include the top names in the technology and life sciences sectors. *Please note that if you were a user of the Radford Trends Survey, you will now be directed to submit data for the Salary Increase Survey instead as the surveys have been combined.
  • What type of data does this survey collect?
This survey includes organizational-level questions on salary increase budgets, merit increase budgets, actual merit increases granted, salary structure changes, turnover rates, variable pay vehicles and spend, and pay-for-performance practices. Individual incumbent data is NOT collected.
  • Can we participate in both the U.S. and global versions of the survey?
Yes. However, the U.S. Salary Increase Survey and the Global Salary Increase Survey are two different products. We require submissions to both questionnaires to receive access to both publications.
  • What are the eligibility rules to receive a complimentary Global Salary Increase Survey report?
To receive a complimentary copy of the overall Global Salary Increase Survey Report, you will need to submit data for 4+ countries. If you submit data for fewer than 4 countries, you will only be eligible to receive complimentary country-specific reports for those particular countries. For example, if you submit data for Germany only, you will receive a complimentary Germany report only.
-- Another key distinction to keep in mind is that global submissions apply to all countries outside the U.S. That means you will need to also fill out and submit data for the U.S. Salary Increase Survey if you wish to receive the U.S. Salary Increase Survey Report.
  • Do I need to submit data for both publications through the year?
Each questionnaire typically takes 60 minutes to complete. We always encourage clients to review survey questionnaires in advance of completing a survey to determine where you might need to confer with a colleague about before entering data online.
